2017-2023 PhD: Chi Hsien Wang (王祺嫻)

Chi Hsien Wang.jpg

Hello, there! I am Chi Hsien Wang, born in Kaohsiung. I got my bachelor’s in chemical engineering at NTHU. I have broad interests like playing volleyball, saxophone and watching horror movie. Besides, I volunteered at consultation center of school in my spare time. I like to get along with others. Energy that we give to others, somehow will back to us in unpredictable and beautiful way. In my senior year, I started the undergraduate research in Masaki’s LAB and realized the potential that research give to make a change is attractive. In addition, people here are amazing, always being willing to help others. From now on, I am going to make a fresh start as a PHD student and continue my involvement in material synthesis. I am looking forward to build up more knowledge and have a wonderful time during the period. Hope to be more open-minded and make contribution in the field someday. During her PhD program, she studied abroad for one year in J. Fraser Stoddart Lab at Northwestern University. After receiving her PhD degree, she conducted postdoctoral research in Tim Swager Lab at MIT. (Since Aug. 2017 for undergrad project and Aug. 2018 for PhD)

2016-2021 PhD: Yen-Jen Lin (林彥任)

Hello, my name is Yen-Jen Lin, or you can call me with a simple name “Ian”. My hometown is Taichung, but I spent more than ten years for study and work in Taoyuan. Now I live and study in the middle of the city between above-mentioned cities, HsinChu. I’m a senior new PhD student than others because of my personal experience of life. After several year work periods, I found research in one of the things that I’m interested in. So I decided to make a large gambling – join and wish to get a PhD degree. I like traveling, finding delicious food, watching movies, and practicing Tai Chi. It’s my pleasure to join Materials Synthesis Lab and wish to learn more, make good friends and have some good publish papers here. (Since Aug. 2016)

2014-2021 PhD: Kuo-Lung Wang (王國隆)

Hello everyone, my name is Kuo-Lung Wang (王 國隆). I am pleased that I have this opportunity to enter Material Synthesis Lab with advisor Masaki Horie at department of chemical engineering, National Tsing Hua University. I received a bachelor degree from National Chung Hsing University. I wish I can receive my master degree form National Tsing Hua University with at least two papers from Material Synthesis Lab. And finally, I wish I can deal with all experimental problems after my graduation. Well goes a saying: "Where there's a will, there's a way." -Edison. And...let's do this! During his PhD program, he studied abroad for one year under Dr Takafumi Sassa's supervision at RIKEN Japan. After receiving his PhD degree, he joined ITRI, the national research institute, and has been excelling there. (Since Aug. 2014)

2013-2019 PhD: Shao-Chi Cheng (程紹奇)

Hello guys, I'm Cheng Shao-Chi. Friends commonly call my nickname "Ryder" due to similar pronunciation of "Chi". I got my bachelor degree in February 2015 and currently am a PhD. student in Masaki's lab. In addition, I've been on school T&F team for 4 years and hold some records on it. With Masaki's passionately encouragement, I can freely deal with my time working on experiments and training my schedules, say, running. The atmosphere in our lab is "surprisingly" great since we enjoy sharing our moments with each other, even celebrate many events! On the other hand, the field of my group shows many interests in "Supermolecular Chemistry", which is relatively new and unusual of its phenomena with the operations of heat/irradiation. Hopefully, I can practically help Masaki figure out more fantastic ideas and eventually promote this into application stage. After receiving his PhD degree, he joined Daxin and later excelled in his career at TSMC. (Since Aug. 2013)

2011-2018 PhD: Kai-Jen Chen (陳楷荏)

Hello I am Kai-Jen Chen from National Central University. Tainan is my lovely hometown. I'd like to discover subtle and simple happiness in my daily life. And I found that traveling is one of the good ways to enjoy life. In my leisure time, the habits of reading and sketching always keep me company. I also like to do some exercise, like swimming and playing volleyball, to build my healthy body. My favorite food is "Peal Milk Tea" which just likes the cure for stress. Moreover the music of 林宥嘉, or an agreeable movie can be an temperate escape from dingy time. From now on, I am one of the members of this harmonious lab. With the help from others, I believe that I can learn much knowledge within the period of time I stay here. 多多指教 :)
Currently he is an exchange student at National University of Singapore (NUS) supported by Taiwan MOST. During his PhD program, he studied abroad for one year in Prof. JJ Vital Lab at National University of Singapore. After receiving
his PhD degree, he joined Daxin company and later opened a fantastic cafe as a new business venture. (Since Aug. 2011)

2010-2015 PhD: Shu-Wei Chang (張 書維)

Hi, I am Shu-Wei Chang (張書維) and Taichung (台中) is the place I grew up. I graduated from national tsing-hua university (清華大學) and then studying Ph.D courses at the same place. My hobbies are playing badminton, classic music, Japanese and chess. I have joined here from the beginning of the laboratory since I was an undergraduate student and experienced all the changes and improvements with the passing of the time. No matter being an undergraduate or a Ph.D. student, the professor always kindly shares not only his fruitful knowledge of chemistry but also his interesting experience and stories in Japan or England. In addition, the laboratory has much freedom for everyone to show his/her hard work or intelligence. Hopefully I can have a good time in the period of the courses. After receiving his PhD degree, he joined Daxin company and has been excelling there.
